Hey Kendra, just keep doing what you can, when you can do it, for whom you can do it according to God's word. That's what God asks of us.

I love how michelle put it. We are actually studying that in prophet class and I remember that by heart. But if u don't stay in his word, u Will forget and fall short... I'm learning consistancy. Lol

I have been struggling with my purpose and not sure if I was part of the body of Christ at church fully! But this reminded me that even the little things we do on our ministry are helping someone. And whether u know it or not u are being watched.

Just the other day someone pointed out to me that a lot of times we go to Eph. 4:11 and point out the different roles and then stop right there. The apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers role is to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body. I noticed tonight when I was reading that Eph 4:11-16 is just one big long sentence where the conclusion is that "the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love.” So the question then becomes what can we do to equip the saints so that "each part is working properly"?

Thanks, Nathan.

I like the way you've worded that. "We can't get the cart before the horse, but also we must leave the cart attached to the horse." I think that provides some good balance on this.

GREAT comments today, Edwin. God almost always turns conventional, human wisdom on its head. God's ways, indeed, are not man's ways. This is where many of us under the world's broad definition of "Christianity" fall down. We preach salvation by faith...but then we also preach salvation by working. We rely heavily on verses such as Phil. 2:12: "work out your own salvation with fear and trembling." See, it says work it out for yourself! James 2 - faith without works is dead. See, you have to work! Like you said, it seems counter intuitive to us. Why would God want us to live in righteousness if we aren't saved by the way we live? Doesn't it all come down to the fact that faith follows Christ? We can't get the cart before the horse (works before faith), but also we must leave the cart attached to the horse!

Okay, I've rambled a lot. It just goes to show I still have work to do to explain this concept more concisely.

Thanks for the thoughts today, Brother.

The verse that struck me today was Romans 1:12. Paul longed (v. 11) to see the saints in Rome that they may be encouraged together because of their mutual faith. I can understand what Paul is saying here. I have brothers and sisters in the faith and I share such a bond with them because of our faith that even when I am with them for just a little while I feel uplifted and encouraged and strengthened. I have always felt a certain sadness for Christians whose best friends are not also Christians. Everyday I see God's wisdom in creating a family for us on this earth so that when we are down we have brothers and sisters in The Faith that are there to pick us up.

Great point, Michelle.

Todd, what really frustrates me is that folks leave claiming they are becoming more tolerant, but they can't be tolerant of your congregation's position at all. They can't be satisfied that some folks are trying to do what the Bible says but have come to a different conclusion from them. They have to leave ridiculing and attacking. What is ironic is they are doing the very thing they claim you do and never see it in themselves, which ties in to the Romans 1-2 reading.
