    God be merciful to me, the sinner.

    That is what this makes me think of.  He went home justified, that is what God wants of us.

      Absolutely, Chris. The problem is that many of us say these words but actually what we mean is, “God be merciful to me, because I’ve done all these religious things to try to make up for the fact that I’m a sinner.”
